SGT FURY AND HIS HOWLING COMMANDOS "Viet Nam: the Valor and the Victory!" Conclusion

TEN-HUT!
We Have Already Seen...

...in 1967,  a team of middle-aged World War II veterans known to us as the "Howling Commandos" (along with a young S.H.I.E.L.D. agent) managed to destroy an atom bomb in the hands of the North Vietnamese!
(Only in comic books or action movies would that last statement actually make sense!)
They are now en-route to their pick-up site...
Editor's Note: this brings us back to where the whole story started HERE!
There would be a couple more "present-day" reunions, a Christmastime one to re-tell their experiences at the Battle of the Bulge, and one involving an assassination attempt on (now-Congressman) "Reb" Ralston...
'Till next time...

SGT FURY AND HIS HOWLING COMMANDOS "Viet Nam: the Valor and the Victory!" Part 4

..the year is 1967, and the reunited/un-retired Howling Commandos, along with fellow Howlers/S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Nick Fury, Gabe Jones, and Dum-Dum Dugan, have infiltrated North VietNam to deactivate/demolish a nuclear bomb.
Accompanied by rookie S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jasper Sitwell, the motley ensemble is about to arrive at the bomb's location in Haiphong...
WTF???
They just blew up one of North VietNam's biggest cities?
So much for being a discreet, low-key operation!
But the danger isn't over yet...as you'll see when the gang reach their rendezvous point and...
Nah.

SGT FURY AND HIS HOWLING COMMANDOS "Viet Nam: the Valor and the Victory!" Part 3

TEN-HUT!
...it's 1967, and President Lyndon Johnson has brought the Howling Commandos out of retirement to join still-active S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Colonel Nick Fury, Dum-Dum Dugan, and Gabe Jones to prevent the North Vietnamese from utilizing an atomic bomb to change the course of the war!
With rookie S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jasper Sitwell rounding out the team, they arrive in South Vietnam to prepare for their covert operation...
We must pause in our re-telling of this never-reprinted tale by writer Gary Friedrich, penciller Dick Ayers and inker John Tartaglione from Marvel's Sgt Fury and His Howling Commandos #3 (1967) until...
So, for now...

Summer Blogathon SGT FURY & HIS HOWLING COMMANDOS "Day of Thunder" Conclusion

Ten-HUT
...they had completed their mission to destroy the Luftwaffe base nearest Normandy and escaped the clutches of the Nazis.
Making their way to the coast, the Howlers find the invasion under way and join the assault in their own unique way...
(Yes, the cover art showing them wading ashore is inaccurate, but it's a great image, eh?)
Roy Thomas, Dick Ayers, and John Tartaglione know how to deliver a kool Silver Age classic, eh?
They would also show the Howlers at the Battle of the Bulge and other critical battles of WWII.
But where were Fury and the Howlers' DC counterparts, Sgt Rock and Easy Company, during D-Day?
If you want to know...
Until then...
