After the doom and gloom of our October entries, we're going for some humor...
...with the first appearance of Canteen Kate from Fightin' Marines #2 in 1951.
(Note: the caption at top relates events never published in any story!)
Kate quickly graduated from being a back-up feature to her own title, which lasted only three issues due to the comic book witch-hunt of the 1950s, which shut down almost 3/4ths of the industry, including her publishers.
The writers of the strip are unknown, but the kool good-girl art is by the legendary Matt Baker, best known for the half-clad superheroine, Phantom Lady.
Until next time...
Dis-missed!
